Dr. Absurd Joy ASMR
Dr. Absurd Joy is my ASMR video persona who specializes in different healing and relaxing sound experiments. As a multimedia project of community care, Dr. Absurd Joy's YouTube videos include one-on-one somatic sound healing sessions and one-take performances of ASMR---which stands for "autonomous sensory meridian response." ASMR describes the tingly feelings around the crown of the head or spine that accompany soft sounds and certain visual stimulation and also describes a new genre of audio/visual media (usually recorded on a high quality 3-dimensional microphone), used to illicit that response of euphoric relaxation. Dr. Absurd Joy's ASMR and sound healing offerings both function as an aid in meditation and inducing/maintaining sleep.
LVJ became introduced to ASMR by watching the vast array of streaming content online; especially during the periods of steroid use in cancer treatment, which causes insomnia. During a period of hospitalization, ASMR became a daily sleep aid for LVJ.
Aside from relaxing ASMR content, Dr. Absurd Joy shares original sound healing videos for brainwave entrainment (syncing); perfect for accessing deeply creative, restful, and healing brain states. Per LVJ's sound healing training with David Gibson, electronic binaural beats are created that begin in the theta brainwave frequency (for relaxation) and then at 20 minutes, switch to the lower octave, delta brainwave frequency for deep meditative sleep. Other videos include discussions on spiritual topics and yogic philosophy.
